Asahi — "morning sun" — makes up less than 1% of Japan's total tea production. Grown on very few farms in Uji. The cultivar of choice for formal tea ceremony. Kenta Hosoi - fifth-generation farmer. His family has been growing tea in Wazuka since the late 19th century.

Our high grade matcha comes from [a small network of farmers in Uji] a region known for its long-standing tea tradition. We don’t source broadly — each tea is chosen intentionally for its balance, clarity and character.
